Nicola Galloway
Nicola Galloway is an award-winning food writer, photographer and cooking educator. Since training as a chef and studying nutrition, Nicola has spent the last two decades sharing her knowledge and passion of cooking and eating well. She is also an avid sourdough baker, fermenter and preserver, and regularly teaches cooking workshops on these subjects around New Zealand.
Nicola is the author of five cookbooks including the highly acclaimed, Homegrown Kitchen – winner of the regional Easy Home Recipes section at the 2018 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, and Highly Commended at the 2019 New Zealand Food Media Awards, where Nicola’s Homegrown Kitchen website won Best New Zealand Food Website. Her other books are Feeding Little Tummies, Cooking For Your Child and Alive!
She regularly contributes recipes to New Zealand publications, and currently writes and photographs a recipe column for Your Weekend and Stuff publications, plus a seasonal produce feature for NZ Gardener magazine. Nicola has also shared her recipes, along with sourdough and preserving tips on Radio New Zealand.
Nicola lives in Nelson with her family on a quarter acre property where they have spent the last 15 years developing a food forest, including 25 heritage fruit and nut trees, vegetable gardens and a repurposed glasshouse, indoor grapes and free-range chooks. It is the seasonal produce from Nicola’s abundant garden and local growers that provides inspiration for the recipes she shares.
