Quick fix or real, long-term weight loss – which would you rather have? For Doug Sellman, there was no choice. In his mid-forties he realised that if he didn’t do something about his steadily increasing weight, he would soon be heading towards obesity and in danger of serious health problems.
From his work as Professor of Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine at the Christchurch School of Medicine, Dr Sellman knows only too well how difficult it is for people to change their behaviour – and that’s what real weight loss is about.
Motivated by his own desire to change his life, and drawing on his long professional experience, he has devised a five-point strategy:
- Take control
- Eat well
- Enjoy life
- Get active
- Persist
Doug Sellman’s strategy is based on common sense and flexibility, with many ways to devise a personal approach to suit your lifestyle. It’s not a quick fix, but a sensible, measured approach requiring patience, that will result in permanent weight loss and a vastly improved quality of life.
Real Weight Loss sets out Doug Sellman’s five-point strategy, using his personal journey to illustrate the challenges and achievements involved and, above all, the feeling of satisfaction to be gained from taking control of your life.
