This guidebook is the first to reveal the full range and quality of rock climbing opportunities close to Wellington.

The city's rugged coastline is especially suited to bouldering, and the world class problems at Baring Head have been joined by stunning new bouldering areas at Turakirae Head, Pukerua Bay and Boom Rock. Add airy traditional climbing at Titahi Bay, friction slabs at Tinui, and sport climbing on Ship Rock and you have more than 600 routes and boulder problems to choose from.

Up-to-date descriptions are enhanced by photo topos and maps, access and crag information, and many inspiring photographs with an easy to use layout.

about the author

Kristen Foley is a born-and-bred Wellington climber. In the late 1980s and early 1990s he served his climbing apprenticeship at Titahi Bay and Baring Head under the watchful eyes of Wellington climbing legends Phil Castle and Jon Rosemergy. Having graduated, he continues to crank around New Zealand and on fleeting visits to Europe and Asia. Kristen still lives in Wellington; he considers the capital city to be the powerhouse of New Zealand climbing.
